After exploring this historic treasure, we’ll immerse ourselves in the nomadic way of life—spending a night under the starry skies in traditional tents, savoring local dishes, and soaking in the breathtaking views of the Zagros Mountains. To complete the experience, we’ll walk the ancient 10,000-year-old nomadic path along the legendary Karoon River, connecting you with a timeless tradition that still thrives today.

In the early morning, we’ll take a flight to Ahvaz. Our day will start with a brief stop at the Karoon River, followed by visits to the ancient city of Shush and the magnificent Tchogha-Zanbil, an Elamite-era ziggurat. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the historic watermills of Shushtar. Lunch will be served at the traditional Mostofi Museum and Restaurant, offering a taste of local cuisine. We’ll spend the night in Shushtar.

Day 2 | Reaching the Nomads

● Bakhtiari Nomads in the Zagros Mountains

● Nomadic Life

After enjoying a nourishing nomadic breakfast, we’ll embark on a 3-hour hike through the scenic Zagros Mountains. Our journey will lead us to the Bakhtiari nomads at their pasture, where we’ll immerse ourselves in their traditional way of life. We’ll engage with the nomads, learning about their rich culture, history, and heritage. We’ll follow the father and son as they tend to their livestock, and the mother will teach us how to bake traditional Tiri bread and milk the goats. In the evening, we’ll have the option to sleep either in the nomads’ black tents or in our own.

Day 3

In the early morning, we’ll join the nomads as they guide their herd into the pasture. This is a chance to gain some hands-on insight into the art of shepherding. The sights and sounds of grazing animals, the soft ringing of their bells, the nomadic songs, and the breathtaking sunrise over the Zagros mountain range will make for an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. After lunch, we’ll bid farewell to the nomads and set off for Shimbar Lake, where we’ll take in the stunning natural scenery. We’ll camp by the lake for the night, enjoying the serenity of the surroundings.

Day 4

● Dezpart Steps

● Khoda Afarin Bridge

● Isfahan

On our final day, we’ll visit the Khoda Afarin Bridge and the historic Dezpart Steps, ancient paths that have been used by local nomads for thousands of years, carrying deep cultural and historical significance. After exploring these landmarks, we’ll head back to Isfahan, marking the end of our journey.
